weCAN was first established in 2017 by artist educator, Glenda Hobdell. The first weCAN project brought together a group of local secondary arts educators in the development and staging of an improvisational, multi-disciplinary performance work that was presented during the Anywhere Theatre Festival in Mackay. The project, reveal•react•resist was developed and performed in full collaboration by all involved, marking the genesis of weCAN as a group of passionate and innovative educators 'who do'.

In 2019, the site has now evolved to include a closed membership of 9 local artists, educators and researchers, working alongside Glenda as participants in her a/r/tographic PhD project, Provoking Change.

 

The project involves an investigation of transmedia arts practice and is being undertaken to develop and present a series of publicly accessible exhibitions of processual and resolved artworks, inclusing immersive and interactive installations.
